The Barclay family had six sons and finally welcomed a daughter. But their joy turned to despair when she was stolen from them. Despite their search, she remained elusive. Miraculously, three-year-old Vivienne found her way back home. During her absence, she had been adopted and trained by a hidden master, acquiring incredible skills. Her return brought unexpected blessings to her family. Her eldest brother's crippled leg was miraculously healed, her second brother excelled in a national test, and her other siblings enjoyed newfound success. With a mischievous smirk, Vivienne chose to conceal her role in these remarkable transformations...
"Get rid of her right away!"
"The police will take her in for sure!"
One evening, an extremely fast car pulled up to the police station. A young child was thrown out of the car as soon as the door opened!
Being thrown out by the car suddenly, she lost her balance and fell to the ground, causing her knees to scrape.
The car had already driven away before the girl could even start crying.
When the policewoman heard the disturbance, she came out only to see a young girl. The girl's hair was loosely tied, and her delicate face was caked in dust.
The policewoman's heart ached at this. With haste, she rushed forward to inquire, "Kid, where are your parents?"
The young girl shook her head. "I don't know."
Fearing she might get a cold, the policewoman helped the child into the room and quickly fetched her a cup of hot water.
The policewoman patiently asked several questions before revealing to her that the young child's name was Vivienne Barclay. She was three years old this year, and she was abandoned at the door by a wicked woman.
Through the surveillance footage at the gate, the policewoman found out that the car owner was Vivienne's guardian based on the license plate number.
After finding out the truth, the policewoman's eyes were full of sympathy when she looked at Vivienne again.
The murmuring of two officers in the police station sounded at this time, "What kind of mother was that, dumping her own kid at the police station when she doesn't want her anymore?"
Sensing the officers' stares, Vivienne lifted her chubby face and gave the policewomen a perplexed look.
"Did you find my family?" Vivienne's voice was soft and lovely. Paired with those big and innocent eyes, whose heart wouldn't melt?
This immediately sparked the policewoman's desire to protect her. She pulled Vivienne into her arms and sighed helplessly, "Is your mother Laila Ballew?"
According to the database, her mother's name was Laila.
Vivienne shook her head repeatedly, denying, "No, I don't know who's Laila."
As she spoke, she took out a portrait of her father and showed it to the policewoman.
The policewoman looked over with interest and discovered that the drawing on the paper depicted the image of the cartoon character who was beating the monster...
Vivienne was positive this was how her father looked!
The policewoman was caught off guard. She had no idea how to explain to Vivienne that the man in the portrait was not her father.
Finally, the officer sought the assistance of their captain, Lincoln Baughan.
Lincoln first requested someone to notify Laila to come to the police station. Then, he reassured the young girl, "Vivienne, why don't you sit down for a while? Your mother will come and get you later."
Vivienne gave him a startled look. After a brief period of hesitation, she uttered, "But I don't have a mother."
The policewoman became even more sympathetic to the young girl upon hearing this.
All of a sudden, the door of the office was pushed open, and someone shouted, "Sir, we caught her mother."
Lincoln arrived in the interrogation room with a stern expression.
In the interrogation room, Laila was sobbing bitterly while complaining, "I bought this kid with money three years ago."
"A priest once told me that this girl and I are destined to meet each other. I don't have a child, so I thought buying could make me have a child of my own someday."
"I got pregnant after she's been with me for a month. After that, the priest told me that the girl was fated to be with him, so I returned her to him."
"Hmm... that priest died too soon. I brought her back seeing that she's quite pitiful!"
"Who knew she couldn't even help out around the house now that she's already so big? Not just this, she eats a lot and picks on my newborn every day!"
Laila grumbled for a long time and her dissatisfaction with Vivienne was evident.
After hearing that, Lincoln was seething with rage. He had assumed it was a straightforward case of child abandonment, but was shocked to learn that it involved child trafficking!
Besides, this lady was convinced she did nothing wrong and even thought that selling children was normal!
Staring at Laila for a long time, Lincoln finally asked, "Did you really buy the child from someone else?"
Laila nodded repeatedly before she detailed everything that had happened three years prior.
Lincoln waved for the other officers to go out first so that they could update the others about Vivienne's situation. Then, he and Laila sat face-to-face in the interrogation room for nearly three to four hours.
Looking anxious, Laila said, "Officer, I have said all I have to say. Can you please let me go? My baby is still not fed."
"Then what about Vivienne?" Lincoln asked.
"Just send that kid to the welfare home. I've raised her for so many years, and I've done my best. If it weren't for me, she would have already starved to death on the street."
Lincoln's temper flared as he witnessed Laila's callous disregard for her responsibilities.
He slammed on the table angrily, and his piercing gaze landed on Laila.
"Mr. Ballew, you kept talking about your baby. What about Vivienne?"
"She is also someone else's child. If you hadn't bought her, she would have been reunited with her family. It had been three years since her parents last saw her. How worried would they be? You knew she was trafficked but why didn't you call the police?"
Laila was so terrified that she dared not speak. Having grown up in the village, she had little exposure to the outside world. She didn't have the nerve to complain anymore because the police were so intimidating.
Lincoln was unwilling to spend any more time talking with such a person. He promptly left after the case was turned over to someone else.
Vivienne had gone without food for the entire day, and it was already eight o'clock in the evening. The policewoman felt sorry for her and got her a cup of instant noodles.
Despite her young age, Vivienne ate a lot. She continued to enjoy the noodles even after devouring two cups by herself.
At this time, Lincoln stepped forward and asked softly, "Vivienne, are you full?"
This little girl had been in the police station for several hours but she didn't cry or make any noise. She just sat in the corner obediently. The more Lincoln looked at her, the more distressed he felt.
With a satisfied pat on the stomach, Vivienne replied, "Yep, I'm full."
Lincoln found her amusing. He hesitated for a moment before he asked again, "Vivienne, do you know what your mother's name is?"
Vivian nodded. "The priest told me that my mother's name is Mabel Bevans and my father's name is Roman Barclay. I'm pretty sure I have a few brothers, but I have no idea where they are."
Lincoln discovered through interrogation that Vivienne had been adopted by a priest. Unfortunately, the priest had passed away long ago.
Given Laila's selfishness, Lincoln figured there must be another reason for her to adopt Vivienne again.
"Take Vivienne to the hospital for a DNA test, and then compare the results to the database."
The abduction of children alarmed the leaders of the city council. And so, everyone worked tirelessly to compare the data based on Vivienne's DNA.
On the other hand, the police had discovered the human traffickers' hideout and were ready to destroy them at any time!
Following the investigation, the police were able to locate Vivienne's true family and made a phone call immediately.
It didn't take long before the call was picked up.
"Hello, are you Mr. Roman Barclay? I'm a policeman from the Scintilla Square police station in Marintopia. I've recently solved a child trafficking case..."
The police provided an overview of the situation. When the police realized Roman had not responded in a long time, he asked again, "Mr. Barclay, are you still listening?"
Roman did not realize his own daughter had been found until about ten seconds later.
It turned out that Roman's wife had been in a car accident when she was eight months pregnant and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Although the doctor was successful in keeping the baby alive, his wife, Mabel passed away from severe injury.
And when Roman was heartbroken for his wife's passing, he was devastated to learn from the hospital that his child in the insulated blanket had been stolen.
The Barclay family had spent three years looking for their missing child. After so long, there was finally some good news!
